What is a conversion funnel?

A conversion funnel is a sequence of steps toward a goal, such as landing page → pricing → signup form → confirmed account. Use steps that match your product’s actual workflow, rather than forcing every business into the same marketing stages.

A worked funnel analysis example

Illustrative numbers: 100 visitors reach pricing, 40 open signup and 20 complete it. Pricing-to-signup continuation is 40 ÷ 100 = 40%. Signup-to-completion is 20 ÷ 40 = 50%. Overall pricing-to-completion is 20 ÷ 100 = 20%.

These are teaching numbers, not Conviz customer results. Use consistent visitors, date ranges and counting rules. Decide whether a later return can count as completion before comparing periods.

What is a good funnel conversion rate?

There is no useful universal target for every product. Traffic intent, pricing, device mix and the goal definition affect the rate. Start with your own baseline and compare like-for-like visitors. A higher rate with fewer qualified customers may not be an improvement.

How does Conviz help?

Conviz shows observed visitor journeys and compares behavior before a selected goal. Review which pages, controls and forms differed between visitors who converted and those whose visits ended. A difference is a lead to investigate; it is not proof that moving a control will increase conversions.

Can I set up a conversion funnel in Google Analytics?

If you already use GA4, define your successful outcome and the events for the steps you need to analyze there. Keep that goal definition consistent when comparing tools. Conviz’s role is to bring the journey, interaction context and supporting behavior into its own inspection workflow; it does not configure GA4 for you.

A structural funnel is not observed visitor behavior

The free Website Funnel Visualizer inspects public conversion paths. It does not measure real drop-off rates. Installed tracking is needed to observe what visitors actually did.

What is collected?

Conviz measures page paths, safe interaction metadata, field types, device information, and active time. The tracker is designed not to record typed form values, passwords, or payment details. Raw interaction and session records are retained for up to 60 days. Configure masking and exclusions for private regions. Read the full privacy policy.

Common questions

Does a funnel drop-off explain why people left?

No. A drop-off identifies where the observed journey stopped. Page context and further evidence are needed to investigate a cause.

Are the public funnel tool’s paths measured visits?

No. The public tool checks website structure, while installed Conviz tracking observes visits.
